Joyce A. Mantz

PORT ALLEGANY- Joyce A. Mantz, 74, formerly of N. Main St., died Tuesday (Mar. 24, 2009) in the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, PA.
Born May 15, 1934, in Snowshoe, PA, she was a daughter of Martin and Helen Daughenbaugh Cartwright. On Jan. 17, 1953, she married Gordon Hallock. On June 24, 1978, in Port Allegany, she married Kenneth Mantz, who died in 1984.
Mrs. Mantz worked for Paul Smith, in the former Western Auto Store, Port Allegany, and later as a nurse's aide with Sweden Valley Manor and Charles Cole Hospital, both of Coudersport, before retiring.
She graduated from Snowshoe High School, Class of 1952.
She was a resident of the area for more than 50 years, coming from Moshannon, PA.
She was a member of the Free Methodist Church, Port Allegany, where she was a former Sunday school teacher.
Surviving are three sons, Donald R. (LuAnn) Hallock of Friendship, NY, Dennis E. (Annette) Hallock of Mansfield, PA, David M. (Connie) Hallock of Port Allegany; a daughter, Denise M. (Robert) Cox of Bellefonte, PA; 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grand-children, 7 great-great grandchildren; a brother, Joseph R. (Francine) Cartwright of Hawley, PA; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and both husbands.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the Free Methodist Church, Port Allegany, with Rev. Beth Rosler, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Port Allegany.
Memorials can be made to the Free Methodist Church, or a charity of the donorís choice.
