Renee Michele McIntyre Birt


RUSSELL, PA - Renee Michele McIntyre Birt, 34, of 95 Mill Road went to be with the Lord on Friday (Sept. 9, 2011) at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh following a sudden illness.
    Born June 20, 1977, in Olean, NY, she was a daughter of William and Ann George McIntyre. On Oct. 28, 2000, in the Scandia Covenant Church, she married Jed A. Birt who survives.
    Renee also lived in Salamanca, NY, and Fredonia, NY, where she grew up in the Harvest Free Methodist Church of Fredonia.
    She was very active in Girl Scouts, earning the Gold Award. She was a 1995 graduate of Fredonia Central High School and a 1999 graduate of the State University of New York with a bachelor of arts degree in English. She was presently employed as a case manager for the Foster Care Program and was formerly employed as a writer for the Dunkirk newspaper Lifestyles Department.
    Renee adored her nieces and nephews, and she loved to read and spend time with family and friends, especially her husband.
    Surviving besides her parents and husband are two sisters, twin Elizabeth (Frank) Galeazzo of Jamestown, NY, and Karen (Jeffrey) Humbert of Penfield, NY; a brother-in-law, Paul (Nancy) Birt of Scandia; her nieces and nephew, Molly Ann and Haylie Elizabeth Birt of Scandia, Brandley William and Ashlyn Mackenzie Galeazzo of Jamestown and Lilian Charlotte Humber of Penfield; her paternal grandfather, William McIntyre of Little Genesee, NY; her grandmother-in-law, Gladys Birt of Warren; her father- and mother-in-law, Eldon and Sheila Birt of Russell; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
    She was predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Richard and Nancy George; and paternal grandmother, Shirley Cochran McIntyre.
    Friends and family will be received Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Peterson-Blick Funeral Home, Inc., 1003 Pennsylvania Ave. East, Warren; and at the Cable Hollow Church, 3157 Cable Hollow Road, Russell, on Wednesday (Sept. 14, 2011) from 11 a.m. to noon, at which time funeral services will be held. The Rev. Brett Heitzman and the Rev. Allen Jones will co-officiate.
