Ruth Marie Gibson Schott
loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother
WESTONS MILLS - Ruth Marie Gibson Schott of 1081 Promised Land Road passed away Tuesday (March 31, 2009) at Olean General Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born May 25, 1931, in Olean, she was a daughter of the late Norman D. and Hazel Rudesill Gibson. On Jan. 19, 1952, in the First Baptist Church of Bradford, PA, she married Leo James Schott, who predeceased her.
Ruth graduated from Bradford High School and attended Grove City College.
She was a charter member of the Portville School Sports Boosters Club, Portville Music Boosters Club and a past member of the Westons Mills Firemen's Auxiliary and the Bradford Chapter of Eastern Star.
Surviving are two sons, James Kevin (Carolyn) Schott of LaPlata, MD, and Michael Allen (Jody Harrell) Schott of Allegany; a daughter, Marcia Jean (Rick) Wray of Portville; four grandchildren, Jamie (Tom) Roulo of Olean, Matthew Wray of California, Christine (Peter) Calomeris of White Plains, MD, and Alan Adams of Port Tobacco, MD; several great-grandchildren; two sisters, Norma (Charles) Griffith of Webster and Mary Jane Gibson of Jamestown; a brother, Charles (Pat) Gibson of Russell, PA; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Gene and Marie Williams, Howard and Sally Sherman and Bob and Nancy Jones.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a brother, David Gibson.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Guenther Funeral Home, Inc., 1303 E. State St., Olean, where funeral services will be held Friday (April 3, 2009) at 11 a.m. Pastor David Herne of South Side Union Chapel will officiate. Burial will be in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Portville.
