Marguerite Sue Magara
SALAMANCA, NY - Mrs. Marguerite Sue Magara, 75, of Waite Avenue, Salamanca, died Sunday (Jan. 1, 2012) surrounded by her loving family.
Born on Sept. 21, 1936 in Ridgway, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Hugh and Marguerite Sampson Kinkead. She was married on June 18, 1955 to Mr. Frank Magara, who preceded her in death on Feb. 1, 2006.
Mrs. Magara was a member of the Salamanca chapter of AARP, the Holy Cross Club and the Salamanca Senior Center. She enjoyed baking, playing bingo, decorating for the holidays and spending time with her family and friends. She was an avid sports fan, especially of the Buffalo Bills and the New York Yankees. She enjoyed attending marching band, color guard and drum corps competitions. She also liked planning her class reunions and going to a monthly luncheon with her classmates.
Surviving are a daughter, Margie Magara, of California; four sons, Thomas (Judy) Magara, of Colorado, David (Patsi) Magara, of Salamanca, Kenneth (Karen Watt) Magara, of Salamanca and Dennis (Stephanie) Magara, of Portville; seven grandchildren, Steven Shoppman, Katie Rollyson, both of Colorado, Annie Magara, Jill Magara, Jay Magara, all of Salamanca and Heather Magara and Shawn Magara, both of Portville; one great-grandson, Luke Rollyson of Colorado; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Diane Magara; two sisters, Jean Paul and Joan Jennings; and two brothers, Jim Kinkead and Jack Kinkead.
Friends may call at the O'Rourke and O'Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River St., Salamanca, from 4 to 7 p.m. today.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Joshua Schallert of the United Congregational Methodist Church officiating.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Salamanca.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Hospice and the American Cancer Society.
