Roxanne M. Burgess
beloved mother, grandmother and friend
ELDRED, PA - Roxanne M. Burgess, 71, of Duffytown Road passed away Saturday (Jan. 7, 2012) at Olean General Hospital following a short illness.
Born April 6, 1940, in Olean, she was a daughter of Raymond and Mary McKenna Davis. She was raised by her stepmother, Cecelia Davis. On Oct. 25, 1956, in California, MD, she married Lewis F. Burgess, who passed away Sept. 16, 1999.
Mrs. Burgess attended school in Allegany, NY, and resided in Olean, NY, before moving to Eldred in 1968. She was employed in food service at the Otto-Eldred School District for many years before her retirement.
Mrs. Burgess enjoyed spending time with her family, friends and grandchildren; and she enjoyed traveling to visit them.
She is survived by two sons, Jeff (Cathy) Burgess of Olean and Anthony (Ann) Burgess of Allegany; two daughters, Kim (Harvey) Meyer of Eldredton and Diane (Joe) Burgess-Baldini of Syracuse, NY; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary Vestoski of Olean; two half-sisters, Marcie (Jeff) Wallen and Maureen (Joe) Batesky, both of Allegany; a half-brother, Michael Davis of Florida; a stepbrother, Francis Wojcik of California; and her friend and companion, with whom she resided, Norman Rogers.
She was predeceased by a sister, Patricia Berical; two brothers, Gerald and Joseph Davis; a half-brother, John Davis, and a half-sister, Helen Shoemaker.
Friends may call from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Frame Funeral Home in Eldred. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.
The family requests that memorials be made to the Otto-Eldred Education Foundation in care of the Otto-Eldred High School business office in Duke Center.
