Donald E. Cone
“beloved husband, father, & grandfather”
CERES, PA---Donald E. Cone, 65, of Ceres, PA, died Saturday, May 9, 2009 in his home after a long illness.
Born March 30, 1944 in Olean, NY, he was a son of Clarence and Mary Clark Cone. On February 27, 1965 in Portville, NY, he married Katherine “Ann” Knapp, who survives.
Mr. Cone was a graduate of Oswayo Valley High School, class of 1963. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force where he attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. He served in Scotland and England.
He was employed as a computer operator at Dexter Hysol in Olean, NY retiring in 2000 after more than 30 years of service.
Mr. Cone loved to play golf. He enjoyed using his computer. He also enjoyed genealogy. He most especially loved spending time with his family.
Surviving besides his wife are a daughter, Denise R. Cone of Shinglehouse, PA; a son, Alan S. (Michele) Cone of Olean, NY; seven grandchildren: Justin Bean, Angelina Cone, Andrew Bean, KC Cone, Nicole Cone, Alan Cone, and Emily Cone; two brothers, Jerry (Hope) Cone of Shinglehouse, PA and John (Helen) Cone of Stuart, Florida; two sisters, Roberta (Jim) Shields of Alma, NY and Chris (Mike) Pilon of Bradford, PA; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Cone was preceded in death by a sister, Diane Cone.
There will be no public visitation.
