Anthony Louis (Tony) Segulin Sr.


    SMETHPORT, PA - Anthony Louis "Tony" Segulin Sr., 89, of South Park formerly of Smethport died Friday (Aug. 21, 2009) in Mt. Vernon of South Park were he had resided since 2007.
    He was born Sept. 18, 1919, in Davis, WV, a son of Frank and Josephine Ujcic Segulin. On Aug. 5, 1950, in St. Elizabeth's Church, Smethport, he married Jenny A. Berne, who died on March 29, 2005.
    Mr. Segulin was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army, serving during World War II from 1941 to 1945. He was owner and operator of Segulin's Quaker State, Smethport, for many years until his retirement.
    He was a member of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church, Smethport; the American Legion; Bucktail Post 138 of Smethport. Mr. Segulin enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening, hunting and was an avid reader of history and current events.
    He is survived by a daughter, Debbie (Dr. Barkley Jr.) Daugherty of Olean, NY; a daughter-in-law, Maryanne Pysola Segulin of Pittsburgh; granddaughters, Jodi (Kevin) McKeever, Laurie Segulin and Abbey Daugherty; a grandson, Christian Daugherty; great-grandchildren Cameron and Allie McKeever; one sister, Margaret Crosby of Port Allegany; and one brother, Joseph Segulin of Mt. Jewett.
    In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Anthony L. "Tony" Segulin Jr. on April 1, 2009, two brothers; and one sister.
    Visitation will be held on Monday from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes, Inc., 2 Bank St., Smethport, PA. A mass of Christian Burial will be said at 10 a.m. Tuesday (Aug. 25, 2009) at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church, Smethport, with the Rev. Vincent P. Cieslewicz, pastor, as celebrant.
    Committal will be in St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Smethport. A Christian Wake service will be held in the funeral home at 3:30 p.m. Monday. Military Honors will be accorded by the American Legion; Bucktail Post 138, Smethport.
