Maxine C. Loucks
MOBILE, AL - Maxine C. Loucks, 82, of 5683 East Woodchase Circle, Mobile, a former resident of Little Genesee, NY and Richburg, NY, passed away Thursday (Aug. 27, 2009) at Mobile Infirmary Medical Center after a long illness.
Born Oct. 9, 1926, in Olean, NY, she was a daughter of Carl and Clara Dinges Filips. On Dec. 12, 1943, in Little Genesee, NY, she married her high school sweetheart, Arnold Loucks, Sr., who survives.
Mrs. Loucks was a graduate of Bolivar Central School, class of 1944, and a graduate of the Jamestown School of Practical Nursing. She was employed as a licensed practical nurse (LPN) at Olean General Hospital and Jones Memorial Hospital in Wellsville. After moving to Mobile, she continued her education, receiving her bachelor's degree as a registered nurse and was floor supervisor at Providence Hospital in Mobile until retiring in 1992.
She attended the First Baptist Church in Tillmans Corner, AL.
Surviving besides her husband are four children, Shannon Shaw of Houston, TX, Charles (Susan) Loucks of Wellsville, NY, Carol (Larry) Douglass of Mobile and Arnold "Skip" (Robin) Loucks of Genesee, PA; 20 grand-children and 27 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a son-in-law, Philip Shaw; a sister, Jean McQueen; and a brother, Richard "Dick" Filips.
Friends may call Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Schaffner Funeral Home, Inc., Bolivar, NY, where funeral services will be held Wednesday (Sept. 2, 2009) at 11 a.m. The Rev. David Herne of the Heritage AFlame Ministries of Bolivar, NY will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Lawn Cemetery, Bolivar, NY.
