Gary R. Hasard

CUBA, NY-Gary R. Hasard of 9966 Keller Hill Road and North Eight Street, Olean, passed away Tuesday, (Sept. 22, 2009) in Cuba Memorial Hospital Palliative Care Unit following an illness.
Mr. Hasard was born Oct. 3, 1948, in Cuba an was a son of Arland C. and Eloise Rogers Hasard. On Sept. 7, 1974, in St. Joseph's Church in Olean he married his wife, Karen Abdo, who survives.
Mr. Hasard was a 1967 graduate of Cuba Central School. He served in the U.S. Air Force from Oct. 13, 1967, to Oct. 12, 1971. Mr. Hasard worked at Great Lakes Cheese for 35 years beginning in 1972 and retiring, due to illness, in 2007. He enjoyed outdoor hunting, riding motorcycles and hobby farming. He was a member of the NRA and the Silver Tractor Club and a former member of the Cuba Rod & Gun Club.
Surviving in addition to his wife are his mother and stepfather, Eloise (Robert) Hasard-Coyne of Lehigh Acres, Fla.; two daughters, Kelly L. (Cork) Zetwick of Rixford, Pa., and Amy E. Hasard of Olean; two grandsons, Justin C. and Clayton C. Zetwick of Rixford; two brothers, William "Bill" (Diane) Hasard of Hinsdale and Kim A. Hasard of Cuba; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Hasard was predeceased by his father, Arland C. Hasard, in December 1978.
Friends will be received from 1 to 3 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home Inc., 646 E. State St., Olean, where funeral and committal services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday (Sept. 26, 2009). The Rev. Steven Beattie, pastor of United Pentecostal Church of Olean, will officiate. Burial will be in Mount View Cemetery Veteran's Field of Honor.
